As a bonafide home decor lover, I have spent my fair share of money on home decor pieces. Many I have loved and some I have felt weren’t worth taking in for free. I am listing the pieces that I think are totally worth the splurge and that I would pay good money to have around my home.

Bedding
There’s nothing like sleeping on high-quality bedding. I’ve owned flimsy sheets before and they are just about the worse thing ever, I mean you wake up and the sheets have drifted to the other side of the bed, they wear in just a few washes and they feel like paper. Once I started spending a little extra on my sheets and duvets, I noticed that they not only felt better, they lasted longer. This means that I could keep the same sets for years versus replacing cheap sets every few months to every year. Purchasing good bedding is worth the splurge, I love to look for sales and snatch up what I want for a price that I feel comfortable with.
The Actual Bed
A good bed is a foundation for any room. It really sets the tone for the space. I believe this is splurge-worthy because if done right, once you choose your bed you’ll have it for years to come. While all the elements around the bed can change and update its look the bed will always be a beautiful staple in a bedroom.
Rugs
I love a good rug. I think every room needs rugs to elevate the area. Rugs work well to ground a space and add character to a room. Now, not every single rug needs to be splurged on but I think the bedrooms and living room are certainly worth it. The other rooms are able to take on a less expensive rug because they’ll likely be changed out more often.
Buffets/Sideboards
Buffets are another staple piece of furniture that really make a home stand out. They can be the focal point of a room, hold your precious goods, be an anchor for art pieces, etc. Once again, many of the elements around it can change to update the look but the buffet can be a core piece of your home. Splurge on the right one and you should be able to hold on to it for years and years.
Kitchen Table
The first thing I notice when I walk into a kitchen/dining room is the table. It brings guests and families together and is a core part of the kitchen. I believe this is splurge-worthy because most families will spend a lot of time around the table. You might as well spend a little extra money to have something that is stable, stately, and will last the test of time. When you’re ready to refresh the look, swap out the chairs, the rug and the surrounding decor to your liking. Shopping tip: If you have the space, purchase a table that can expand. This will come in handy when you have more guests over than usual like during the holidays.
Mirrors
Mirrors are so simple but have a beautiful way of bringing a home alive. I believe that all bedrooms need a mirror and I believe that at least one hallway or entry point in a home needs a mirror. Mirrors help brighten up a home because they reflect light throughout the space. It’s also practical to have mirrors because they help you see how you’re looking before you head out the door.
So that’s it! These are a few pieces that I think are worth the splurge. I believe that adding a few extra dollars to these items will pay off because they’ll last longer and will continue to provide value for years to come. The great thing about “splurging” is it’s all relative, so choose what works best for you and your budget.
